“Don’t worry .. be happy” Bob Marley
I often see posts on social media and in newsletters from creatives and people sharing photos of beauty and moving words of delight at small happenings within their world. Each one a treasure.
But then, with a sudden jolt they will heartbreakingly apologise.
The first words are often: ‘given the horrible state of the world ..’ and go on to say how uncomfortable they feel at being happy. Perhaps they feel they are somehow being irresponsible, burying their head in the sand by not focusing and worrying constantly about all the cruelties and outrages. The apology, it seems to me, is that somehow they have distracted us from the ‘real’ world. Dear Hearts who by the very doubts they express illustrate how caring they truly are.
But we know deep within us that the happiness, beauty and heartfelt sharing of the moments which light us up or soothe us are not playthings. They are not frivolous. By immersing ourselves within those moments we are not ignoring suffering, we are not escaping and we are not being in some way selfish. On the contrary.
When we can experience the much larger reality beyond the human plays and dramas we grow stronger, less swayed by the winds of trauma. We remember that laughter is eternal. That the small flashes of beauty all around us are what make life worth living. And most of all we allow our hearts to vibrate at the frequency of Hope.
And because one of our most potent drives is to be of service, we instinctively understand that by sharing these magical and mundane experiences, others can anchor Hope into their own lives, can breathe deeply in a wellspring of their own touchstones.
And just as a house is built brick by brick, we lay enduring foundations and raise walls from the convictions that by keeping our hearts nourished and succoured by these loving realities, we can stand more steadfastly. We can weather the storms more enduringly, supporting our families and neighbours and quietly make a true difference in the world.
So seek out beauty. Engage in tender laughter. Create in every moment from the sheer joy of being on this earth. Be happy … and never apologise.

And this seems the perfect moment to introduce a new feature of Molecules Dancing. Every so often I’m going to showcase a creative or fellow healer I particularly admire.
This time it is Scottish artist Emma Stubbs.
I’ve followed her career for many years, collecting quite a few of her works along the way. Based in Aberdeen she has a new studio in the historic area of the Harbour and her paintings reflect close ties with the sea.
In her own words she is: “an artist drawn to the ever-changing landscapes of the northeast coast of Scotland. From the rugged peaks of the Cairngorms to the wild, restless North Sea, my work is shaped by the shifting light, the vast skies, and the places where land and water meet. The wind moves through everything here—the grasses on the cliffs, the heathered moors, the waves that carve the coastline. It’s in this wildness that I find my inspiration.”
Here’s the link to her website: ✨ Emma Stubbs Art ✨ And Emma has generously given me a code to share with you for 10% off total order amount until 30 April ‘25
